THE PROMISES OF GOD
2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.God has never made a promise that he has not kept. I cannot say that about myself. Solomon had something to say about God’s faithful promises in 1Ki 8:54 ¶ And it was so, that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication unto the LORD, he arose from before the altar of the LORD, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven. 55 And he stood, and blessed all the congregation of Israel with a loud voice, saying, 56 Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.Peter is saying in the above verse that the promises of God given unto us are exceeding great and precious. And they are that. He has promised that he would save His people from their sins and this He has done through The Son Jesus Christ. This promises reaches back to the Book of Genesis and is referenced all the way through the Old Testament. The promise is made in the beginning of the New Testament when the Angel came to Mary and made the announcement of her being the earthly mother of God’s Son. Then the Angel speaking to Joseph giving him assurance of Mary’s faithfulness to him, and stating to him, the purpose of the birth of Jesus. Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. The angel also restated the promise made through Isaiah in Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.Who were His people? Those given to Christ before the world was spoken into existence by God. Ephesians 1:4 According as he hath chosen us* in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: (* His People)God has made many promises to His people may we become acquainted with them. In them we find assurance, joy in living, guidance in life and promises to be received in this life through obedience and Jesus even promises of chastisement for disobedient children. The Promises of God are exceeding great and precious. His promises are Non-conditional and conditional, may we understand more about the Promises of God.I believe that today many of God’s elect family are not enjoying Kingdom Living,(Read Romans 14:17) of righteousness, peace and joy, because they have not claimed the precious promises that are ours while we remain and live in this present world. There remaineth much to be said about God’s Promises.
